Loopt de autosport de hardste tik op in deze crisis?

Her en der zien we al teams (vooral in de endurance-racerij) stoppen of de activiteiten minimaliseren. In de F1 zijn de banken sneller verdwenen dan dat de sigaretten verboden konden worden. RBS & ING gaan in Brazilie waarschijnlijk hun laatste GP rijden.

Uit een onderzoek blijkt dat de financials relatief meer sponsoren in de autosport dan in andere sporten. M.a.w., we gaan de tik harder voelen dan andere sporten.

The financial services sector has been especially hard hit by bad mortgage debt and tighter credit markets. That sector historically has been a big spender on sports. In 2007, financial services companies based in North America divided their sponsorship money across a broad array of sports, favouring auto racing and sporting venues:

Auto racing: 18 per cent

Arena/stadium: 15 per cent

Golf: 8 per cent

Soccer: 8 per cent

Football: 8 per cent

Olympic sports: 6 per cent

Baseball: 5 per cent

Ice hockey: 3 per cent

Sailing: 3 per cent

Tennis: 3 per cent

Other: 22 per cent
