Volgens http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/78399 (artikel van maandag, dus zo'n breaking news is het ook weer niet) zal het allemaal niet zo'n vaart lopen.

Zelfs als het waar zou zijn; McLaren heeft al titels behaald met krachtbronnen van Ford, Porsche, Honda en Mercedes, dus zo duister zie ik het dan nog niet in hoor

Was ook mijn eerste gedachte. If you can't beat them buy them.

Maar Mercedes is nu al een tijdje mede-eigenaar van McLaren maar het blijft McLaren die het meeste in de spotlights staat. Indien men Brawn overneemt of in ieder geval grootste aandeelhouder wordt dan kan men alle aandacht naar zich toetrekken i.p.v. die te moeten delen met Brawn.

En van Spygate. En van Liegate. En van het verliezen van de wereldtitel in 2007. En van de povere resultaten in 2009.
McLaren pompt aan de ene kant een hoop geld in McLaren en verdient aan de andere kant geld aan een paar klantenteams. Als die klantenteams dan sneller blijken, worden er toch eens vragen gesteld.

Het feit dat zowel Mclaren en Mercedes hun eigen opvolger voor de SLR gemaakt hebben (Mclaren MP4-12C en Mercedes SLS AMG) was misschien ook een voorbode.

Inmiddels is er Mercedes GP voor 2010, gaat McLaren zijn aandelen terug kopen.............en jawel na de zwendel bij BMW met de vermeende verkoop Qadbak is er nu een flater bij Mercedes GP / Brawn
