554. Austin Raceway Park (Austin, TX)

Dit circuit annex dragstrip werd begin jaren 1970 gesloten en zou ondertussen ten prooi vallen van landontwikkelaars.
Dit circuit liep door twee "counties" en moest dus tweemaal belastingen betalen met financiële problemen als gevolg.
Bijkomend, bekloegen plaatselijke boeren zich over het lawaai dat de rust van hun koeien verstoorde ... (vanwaar kennen we dat).
Typisch aan dit circuit was een zogenaamde "Derrick" olieboorder die omgebouwd werd tot controletoren.

Deze oval werd ook nog uitgebaat als East Moline Speedway.

Illinois is erbarmelijk ingescand, dus even overstappen naar Indiana ...

Vroeger ook uitgebaat als Chandler Raceway Park.
De Dragstrip, te zien op de foto, is gekend als Chandler Motorsports Park.
